Another year with some very memorable events. I traveled to Colmar just to hear Franco Fagioli in Polifemo yet again, as last year in Amsterdam was a concert version, and this was staged. Loved it!
Hearing Julia Lezhneva with Ton Koopman, on his 80th birthday in Brussels, was a treat. Koopman, Lezhneva, Handel, bliss. And more Handel in Paris, where the beautiful voices of Elsa Dreisig and Sandrine Piau shone most brightly.
My stop in London with three nights of theatre showed me three powerful productions, with Coriolanus and Oedipus being shouldn’t-be-missed performances.
The year wrapped up with an impressive production in Stockholm, bit of a pastiche of Kristina Lugns’s writings, very gripping, and with an especially eye-opening performance by Lotte Tejle whom I had only seen in a TV series. What a great finish!
